At Chilworth Veterinary Surgery, we believe that pets are family and they deserve nothing less than the deepest compassion and the highest standard of care.
As an independent practice, free from corporate influence, we are driven by a genuine love for animals and a commitment to nurturing the special bond between pets and their people. Every visit is personal, every treatment is tailored, and every pet is treated as if they were our own. We dedicate ourselves to being a trusted partner in your pet’s life, providing unwavering support, empathy, and expert care at every stage of their journey.
Emergencies and Out of Hours
At Chilworth Veterinary Surgery, our patients will benefit from our in-house out-of-hours emergency care, ensuring your pet receives expert attention when they need it most. This removes the need for your pet to be transferred to alternative out-of-hours services; this will be provided by our own independent vets.
About Us
Andrei and Mario met eight years ago at a professional development course in Durham, where their shared passion for veterinary medicine sparked an instant connection. As they discovered their mutual dedication to providing exceptional care for animals and an unwavering commitment to serving clients with compassion, their friendship blossomed. This deep bond and shared vision to offer outstanding veterinary care in an independent, personal setting became the heart of what is now Chilworth Veterinary Surgery – a place where the love for animals and dedication to service come together.
Andrei Fruja
DVM MRCVS
Andrei graduated from the University of Timisoara in Romania and has been practicing in the UK in small animal practices for the past eight years, both in first opinion and hospital settings. His career has taken him around the globe, gaining invaluable experience as a GP vet in Abu Dhabi and two years in a high-pressure Emergency and Critical Care role in the Midlands. Andrei is currently completing his postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery, which will enable him to offer advanced soft tissue and orthopaedic services to his patients at Chilworth Veterinary Surgery.
Outside of work, Andrei is an adventurer at heart—on the slopes skiing in winter and exploring new countries and cuisines during the summer months.
Mario Santos
DVM, MRCVS, PgC SAS
Certificate holder in small animal surgery
Mario graduated from the University of Porto in Portugal and gained experience in world-class hospitals in the United States, Germany, and Belgium. Over the past eight years, Mario has worked in high-standard UK practices, completing an internship in a referral practice and earning his postgraduate certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2019. He is skilled in performing advanced soft tissue, minimally invasive (keyhole) surgeries as well as certain orthopaedic surgeries not typically available in general practice.
Outside of work, Mario enjoys exploring Hampshire and travelling with his family.
